DuoVault Terms of Use

1. Purpose

These Terms define the conditions and procedures for using the Service and the rights, duties, and responsibilities of the Company and users.

2. Effect and changes to the Terms

1. These Terms apply to all users who wish to use the Service.
2. The Company may change these Terms within the scope permitted by applicable law. Changes will be announced in the Service or through this document from seven days before the effective date, with the effective date and reason.
3. If you do not agree to the changed Terms, you may stop using the Service and delete your account.

3. Service use and accounts

1. The couple vault feature is available after signing in with an Apple or Google account.
2. Users must use the Service with their own account and must not misappropriate or misuse another person's account.
3. Users are responsible for safeguarding their app passphrase. If the passphrase is lost, data cannot be recovered, and the Company bears no responsibility for this.

4. User obligations and prohibited acts

Users must not:

1. Improperly obtain or use another person's account, personal information, or invite code
2. Interfere with normal operation of the Service, or attempt to bypass or disable its security measures
3. Upload unlawful or harmful data to servers, or infringe the rights of others
4. Commit other acts that violate applicable law, public order and morals, or these Terms

5. Responsibility for content

1. Users are solely responsible for the content of the photos, videos, and other material they upload and for any resulting legal liability.
2. The Company stores and transmits data in encrypted form for the purpose of operating the Service, but holds no encryption keys and therefore cannot read the content.

6. Data retention and deletion

1. Personal vault data is stored only on the user's device.
2. Couple vault data is stored on servers in end-to-end encrypted form and is automatically and permanently deleted after the 7-day grace period once breakup mode starts.
3. When a user resets the app or deletes their account, their data is destroyed without delay, except where retention is required by applicable law.

7. Disclaimers

1. The Company is not liable for service interruptions or data loss caused by events beyond its reasonable control, such as natural disasters, network failures, or outages of third-party services (App Store, Firebase, etc.).
2. Given the nature of end-to-end encryption, the Company is not liable for the inability to recover data due to a lost passphrase or lost device.

8. Service changes and discontinuation

The Company may change or discontinue all or part of the Service where operationally or technically necessary, with advance notice. In urgent cases, notice may be given afterwards.

9. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. In the event of a dispute, the court with jurisdiction over the Company's location shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
